Dream & Distortion. The melancholia of distorted synths combined with odd micro noises & effects. The fusion of rough and thunderous drones with hidden melodies. It evokes a strong emotional impact, like the feeling of being stuck in a confusing dream. SHRINE's philosophy shows a way to realize that what we call "reality" is to be mistrusted based upon our usual perceptions. The distortion of this reality opens up a chance to better understand its true essence and confront the things that lie under the surface.

The shadows of the old city creep upon you as you delve deeper and deeper into its depths. What horrors to see, what marvels to behold? Codex grasps your throat and pulls you further down into this twisted travesty of reality. At no point it looses tension, keeping you on your toes with sounds from another dimension. Is this real? Or is it the sick dream of an ancient god? Whatever it is, an ambient highlight it is for sure, a powerful statement and a new benchmark for the genre. Rindenberg

It's a dark journey through dim places that used to be inhabited by creatures from outer space or by some forgotten gods fallen into oblivion. You can see the light from times to times even in the darkest of places... Wasn't really into Ambient before but I feel that the whole album incorporate well into a death metal playlist it makes for a great hiatus between some more demanding materials. Th3G00D
